Deadly Crash on Mission Bay Drive Caused by Red Light Runner
SAN DIEGO, CA, (June 04, 2025) -
A 22-year-old woman from Hemet was killed Wednesday night in a two-vehicle crash in Pacific Beach, San Diego. Authorities identified the victim as Savannah Abigail Marquez, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Savannah Abigail Marquez, 22, of Hemet, was a passenger in a vehicle that ran a red light and collided with another car Wednesday night in Pacific Beach. Tragically, Marquez died at the scene.
The deadly collision occurred just before 10 p.m. at the intersection of Mission Bay Drive and Grand Avenue.
Preliminary reports indicate that a 2013 Corvette was heading southbound on the 4500 block of Mission Bay Drive when the 21-year-old male driver ran a red light. The vehicle crashed into a 2018 Jeep Cherokee that was turning northwest onto Grand Avenue.
Marquez, who was a passenger in the Corvette, died at the scene from blunt force injuries.
The Corvette driver and two occupants of the Jeep sustained injuries and were transported for medical treatment. Authorities noted that DUI is believed to be a factor in the crash.
An investigation remains ongoing.
