Deadly Crash Occurred at Limonite Avenue and Beach Street, Officials Say
JURUPA VALLEY, CA, (July 06, 2025) - Two people were tragically killed early Saturday morning in a suspected DUI crash in Jurupa Valley, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department. The deadly incident occurred around 2:50 a.m. at the intersection of Limonite Avenue and Beach Street.
Sabrina De Lara, 18, of Eastvale, and Javier Rios, 24, of Jurupa Valley, were identified as the victims of a deadly two-vehicle crash in Jurupa Valley early Saturday, authorities said.
Authorities say the crash involved at least two vehicles, including a van carrying multiple unrestrained passengers. Two of the van’s occupants—18-year-old Sabrina De Lara of Eastvale and 24-year-old Javier Rios of Jurupa Valley—died at the scene from their injuries.
The drivers of both vehicles, along with several other van passengers, were taken to a hospital for treatment. The driver of the van, a Jurupa Valley man, was allegedly under the influence at the time of the crash and was arrested on suspicion of two counts of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated.
The investigation remains ongoing.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
Drunk driving remains one of the deadliest and most preventable threats on American roads, claiming 34 lives every day. In 2023 alone, 12,429 people died in alcohol-impaired driving crashes, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).
Following the tragic crash in Jurupa Valley that killed Sabrina De Lara and Javier Rios, legal experts say an independent investigation is essential to determine all contributing factors—particularly the results of blood-alcohol content testing for the suspected DUI driver.
Candice Bond, a seasoned DUI accident attorney and Managing Partner at Bond Legal, stressed the importance of legal advocacy in such cases. “Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide a victim during this difficult time, protecting their legal rights while ensuring that drunk drivers are held accountable for their reckless actions,” Bond said.
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the families of Sabrina De Lara and Javier Rios may be entitled to file wrongful death claims. These claims can help cover medical and funeral costs, emotional trauma, pain and suffering, and the loss of love and companionship caused by this tragic incident.
“An incident is considered a wrongful death when either a person or entity commits a wrongful or negligent act resulting in a person's death,” said Candice Bond, Of Counsel with Bond Legal.
“When vehicle accident fatalities result from unsafe driving, aggressive or distracted driving, speeding, or driving under the influence, family members are usually left with the option to pursue a civil action against the responsible motorist,” Bond added.
