Cherry Valley woman hospitalized with serious injuries

CHERRY VALLEY, CA, (September 06, 2025) - Authorities say a deadly crash involving a Riverside County Sheriff’s Department patrol vehicle left one man dead and a young woman seriously injured Saturday morning in Cherry Valley.

The accident happened shortly after 10 a.m. when a sheriff’s Ford Explorer, running its emergency lights and sirens, headed west on Cherry Valley Boulevard near Roberts Street. A Tesla Model 3, driven by a 21-year-old man, attempted a left turn and entered the path of the patrol vehicle, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The impact killed the Tesla driver at the scene. His passenger, identified as 20-year-old Madeline Fox of Cherry Valley, suffered major injuries and was transported to a hospital.

CHP investigators are working to determine the circumstances surrounding the crash.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Every year, millions are injured in U.S. traffic crashes—many with life-altering consequences. Approximately 2.2 million were injured in motor vehicle accidents in 2023 across the country, according to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

While the cause and liability of the crash are being investigated, Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, said that it is imperative to have an independent investigation conducted by a seasoned attorney.

“In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview important witnesses, analyze any surveillance video from the scene of the crash, and obtain phone and texting records of the liable party,” said Bond, a national analyst for The Legal Advocate.

“Time is of the essence in cases such as this, and the victim’s family must ensure that evidence is reviewed efficiently.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the results of the investigation, Madeline Fox may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal, noted that the stress and worry following a serious injury can be overwhelming, disrupting all aspects of life, including family, work, finances, and overall quality of life.

“It is vital for victims to hire an attorney when filing a personal injury claim, which allows them to negotiate with an insurance company on behalf of a client,” Bond added.

“Insurance companies often try to pressure victims to settle for a quick payout for far less than the case is worth. However, an attorney will vigorously advocate for their client to ensure they are treated with respect and compensated fairly.”
