64-year-old man hit, injured in Aug. 31 DUI crash, police report
MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA, (August 31, 2025) - Authorities say a 64-year-old pedestrian was injured after being struck by a suspected DUI driver on Aug. 31 in Mountain View.
A 64-year-old Mountain View man was hurt Sunday night in a pedestrian crash near West El Camino Real and Miramonte Avenue.
The crash happened at about 9:47 p.m. near the intersection of West El Camino Real and Miramonte Avenue. Police identified the driver as 23-year-old Eva Lerner of San Francisco, who allegedly hit the man while under the influence of alcohol.
The victim, a local resident, was taken to a hospital for treatment. Lerner remained at the scene and was later arrested and booked into Santa Clara County Main Jail on one count of DUI causing injury.
No additional details were immediately released as the investigation continues.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
It is not just the drunk driver at risk but people riding in their cars or, often, the occupants of the vehicles they crash into or people walking on foot. Everyone is unsafe when an impaired driver gets behind the wheel. According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), every 79 seconds someone in the country dies or is injured in a drunk driving crash.
“Having the proper resources is extremely important to investigate a pedestrian accident case and prove negligence,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.
Bond stressed, “In most instances, pedestrians possess the right-of-way when crossing an intersection or a street, regardless if they are in a marked crosswalk. A driver must yield to any pedestrian.”
Road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting are all possible contributing factors that are considered and must be thoroughly examined. These procedures are necessary for helping those who have lost a loved one receive the justice that they deserve.
PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM
The injured pedestrian may have the right to pursue a personal injury suit pending the results of the investigation.
Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, said, “Injured victims involved in a collision often pursue a personal injury claim to cover the cost of medical bills, future medical care, loss of income, emotional trauma, and pain and suffering.”
“Insurance companies can be notoriously unconcerned with the mounting expenses an injured party may face. An attorney can help by protecting victims’ rights and holding insurance companies accountable, ensuring fair compensation,” Bond added.
