Joshua Gentle was tragically struck and killed in a pedestrian crash at Clairemont Drive and Iroquois Avenue in Bay Park, officials said.
BAY PARK, CA, (June 15, 2025) - A 53-year-old man, Joshua Michael Gentle, was tragically killed in a pedestrian accident on June 15 in San Diego’s Bay Park neighborhood.
Joshua Michael Gentle, 53, tragically lost his life on June 15 after being struck by a vehicle in San Diego’s Bay Park neighborhood, authorities confirmed.
According to the Medical Examiner’s Office, the incident occurred when a sedan struck Gentle as he was walking across the street near Clairemont Drive and Iroquois Avenue. Gentle, a San Diego resident, sadly died at the scene from multiple blunt force injuries.
The identity of the driver and further details about the crash have not yet been released. Authorities continue to investigate the incident.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
The growing popularity of larger vehicles—such as SUVs and pickup trucks—has coincided with a troubling increase in pedestrian fatalities across the country. These heavier vehicles pose a greater threat to those on foot, and in San Diego alone, an average of 1,000 pedestrians and bicyclists are seriously injured in traffic incidents each year, according to recent reports.
Candice Bond, a seasoned pedestrian accident attorney, emphasized that pedestrians are typically granted the right-of-way in intersections and crosswalks.
“In most instances, pedestrians possess the right-of-way when crossing an intersection or street, even if it’s not in a marked crosswalk,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “It is always the responsibility of the driver to yield to pedestrians.”
Bond added that in tragic cases like this, it is crucial for the victim’s family to have an independent investigation conducted by an experienced legal professional to ensure their rights are fully protected.
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of Joshua Michael Gentle may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. Such claims may seek compensation for funeral expenses, loss of companionship, emotional distress, and other damages resulting from the tragic accident.
“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. “We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital. A wrongful death lawyer will remain informed about the investigation and help ensure the family’s legal rights and best interests are upheld.”
