FATAL HIT-AND-RUN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Motorists involved in accidents are legally required to stay at the scene until authorities arrive; fleeing is a crime. Yet, hit-and-run incidents continue at an alarming rate. Statistics show that more than one hit-and-run crash occurs every minute across the country.

According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), approximately 25 percent of pedestrian fatalities in 2022 resulted from hit-and-run crashes. Many suspects flee due to intoxication, lack of a valid license, or fear of arrest.

Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and an experienced hit-and-run attorney, emphasized the importance of a thorough investigation. “Having the proper resources is extremely important to investigate a hit-and-run case and prove negligence,” Bond said. “Factors like road conditions, signage visibility, and lighting must be carefully examined. These procedures are necessary to help families who have lost loved ones obtain the justice they deserve.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of the woman killed in the Sacramento hit-and-run may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. In such cases, surviving family members can seek compensation for damages including loss of companionship, emotional distress, and pain and suffering.

“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. “We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital. A wrongful death attorney will stay informed on the official investigation and work to ensure their legal rights and best interests are upheld.”
