Police said Ruiz Pardo was traveling south on the 6300 block of Milwaukee Avenue at about 1 a.m. when he tried to turn east into a convenience store parking lot. A northbound vehicle, reportedly traveling at a high rate of speed, struck Pardo’s car, forcing it into a utility pole.

FATAL CRASH INVESTIGATION

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), speeding was a factor in 29 percent of all traffic fatalities in 2022, resulting in 12,151 deaths and an estimated 300,595 injuries.

Excessive speeding reduces the time the driver has to react in a dangerous situation, making it more difficult to avoid a crash. Regardless of the findings of any police investigation, Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, stressed that it is imperative to hire an attorney to conduct an independent probe into the cause of the crash to secure evidence and protect the rights of the victim’s grieving family.

“In addition to a police report, an attorney will carefully review what may have contributed to the crash,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. “Your lawyer has the resources to hire expert witnesses, conduct drivers’ background checks, locate witnesses to the crash, and review applicable insurance coverage. Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide a family who has lost a loved one during this difficult time, while vigorously protecting their legal rights and best interests.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIMS

The family members of Ruiz Pardo may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain, suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.

“We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. “A wrongful death lawyer will stay updated on the official investigation and help ensure that their best interests are taken care of. Relatives of wrongful death victims are entitled to seek damages for the loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.”
