Woman’s death caused by multiple blunt trauma, ME’s office says
W COVINA, CA, (August 12, 2025) - Fe Butts, 65, was killed Tuesday night after being struck by a vehicle in West Covina, officials said.
Fe Butts, 65, was struck and killed by a vehicle Tuesday night along Azusa Avenue in West Covina, according to authorities.
The crash occurred about 10:36 p.m. along South Azusa Avenue near East Walnut Creek Parkway. According to the coroner’s office, Butts died at the scene from multiple blunt trauma. Authorities said the case remains under investigation.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
Distracted driving, spurred by the use of electronic devices, America's love affair with large cars, and road designs that prioritize vehicle speed have contributed to rising pedestrian deaths nationwide. In 2023 there were 118 fatalities in unincorporated Los Angeles County roadways, and 29% of these fatalities involved pedestrians, according to the L.A. County Department of Public Health.
“In most instances, pedestrians possess the right of way when crossing an intersection or a street regardless of if they are in a marked crosswalk,” said Candice Bond, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.
Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal, noted that in cases such as this, it is imperative to have an independent probe conducted by a seasoned lawyer to help protect the rights of the victim.
“Having the proper resources is extremely important in order to investigate a pedestrian accident case and prove negligence,” Bond added.
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
Pending the results of the investigation, the family of Fe Butts may be entitled to a wrongful death claim for the loss of love and companionship.
“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.
“We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital. A wrongful death lawyer will stay updated on the official investigation and help protect their legal rights and best interests.”
