SAN GABRIEL, CA, (August 08, 2025) - An elderly pedestrian lost his life in a vehicle-related accident early Friday in San Gabriel, authorities said. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner identified the victim as 80-year-old Tony Ta.

police lights car crashTony Ta, 80, was fatally struck by a vehicle early Friday at an intersection in San Gabriel, authorities reported.

According to preliminary reports, Ta was struck shortly before 5 a.m. near the intersection of Rosemead Boulevard and Longden Avenue. He was transported to a hospital, where he succumbed to blunt force injuries. His city of residence has not yet been determined.

Officials have not released details regarding the driver. The incident remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Every year, more pedestrians lose their lives on U.S. roads. These deaths are preventable—drivers can help stop them by being attentive whenever they are behind the wheel. Approximately 2,304 pedestrians were struck and killed by drivers on U.S. roads in the first half of 2024, the Governors Highway Safety Association (GHSA) said in a report.

“In most instances, pedestrians possess the right of way when crossing an intersection or a street regardless of if they are in a marked crosswalk,” said Candice Bond, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.

Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal, noted that in cases such as this, it is imperative to have an independent probe conducted by a seasoned lawyer to help protect the rights of the victim.

“Having the proper resources is extremely important in order to investigate a pedestrian accident case and prove negligence,” Bond added.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the results of the investigation, the family of Tony Ta may be entitled to a wrongful death claim for the loss of love and companionship. “The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital. A wrongful death lawyer will stay updated on the official investigation and help protect their legal rights and best interests.”

“Insurance companies may try to take advantage of your lack of knowledge of the law and offer a low settlement or deny your claim altogether. An attorney can protect your rights and ensure that you are not taken advantage of.”
