Grandfather among five killed in Poway highway collision, authorities report
POWAY, CA, (July 18, 2025) - A devastating three-vehicle crash on Friday near the intersection of State Route 67 and Iron Mountain Drive in Poway claimed the lives of five individuals, including 68-year-old Roberto Martinez Oros.
Roberto Martinez Oros, 68, of Ramona, tragically lost his life Friday afternoon in a three-vehicle crash in Poway, according to a news release.
According to early reports, Oros, a Ramona resident, was driving southbound around 12:30 p.m. when a northbound Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup veered into oncoming traffic at high speed and struck his vehicle head-on. Moments later, a Toyota Tacoma collided with the wreckage, propelling one of the vehicles into a nearby ravine. A small brush fire ignited shortly after, authorities said.
Oros and four others tragically died at the scene. Family members shared that he was on his way to the bank to secure a loan for home renovations when the crash occurred.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
