DUI Crash on 605 Freeway Kills Four Friends After Concert Outing
NORWALK, CA, (July 20, 2025) - Four friends tragically lost their lives early Sunday morning after a suspected DUI crash on the San Gabriel River (605) Freeway in Norwalk, according to the California Highway Patrol (CHP). The group was returning from a concert when the fatal incident occurred.
Julie Harmori and her boyfriend, Armando Del Campo, were killed early Sunday morning in Norwalk when their disabled vehicle was struck by a suspected drunk driver, officials said.
Among the victims were Julie Harmori and her boyfriend, Armando Del Campo.
CHP investigators reported that the group was traveling in a Nissan sedan that had previously been involved in a collision with a CHP patrol vehicle around 1 a.m. on the southbound freeway, just north of Rosecrans Avenue. The crash left the Nissan disabled in the No. 2 lane.
Moments later, a Kia sedan driven by Iris Salmeron slammed into the Nissan. The impact caused the Nissan to catch fire, trapping all four occupants inside. Tragically, all four were pronounced dead at the scene.
Salmeron was arrested and faces multiple charges, including DUI causing injury with a blood alcohol content of 0.08% or higher.
The California Highway Patrol is continuing to investigate the deadly crash.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
Impaired driving endangers everyone on the road—not just the driver, but also passengers, other motorists, and pedestrians. According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), someone in the U.S. is killed or injured in a drunk driving crash every 79 seconds.
In cases like this, an independent investigation is essential to identify all contributing factors, including toxicology reports that confirm the driver’s blood alcohol concentration.
Candice Bond, a seasoned DUI accident attorney and Managing Partner at Bond Legal, emphasized the critical role legal counsel plays in the aftermath of such devastating incidents.
“Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide a victim during this difficult time, protecting their legal rights while ensuring that drunk drivers are held accountable for their reckless actions,” Bond said.
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
Pending the results of the investigation, the family members of Julie Harmori and Armando Del Campo may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Such a claim may provide compensation for funeral and medical expenses, loss of love and companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma resulting from the sudden and tragic loss.
Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, explained the legal basis for pursuing such action.
“An incident is considered a wrongful death when either a person or entity commits a wrongful or negligent act resulting in a person's death,” Bond said. “When vehicle accident fatalities result from unsafe driving, aggressive or distracted driving, speeding, or driving under the influence, family members are usually left with the option to pursue a civil action against the responsible motorist.”
