Crash at Lexington Avenue and Straub Street in Rochester Hit-and-Run; Driver Faces Multiple Charges

ROCHESTER, NY, (August 09, 2025) - A 64-year-old man was killed in a hit-and-run crash earlier this month in Rochester, Monroe County.

hit and runA 64-year-old man was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver earlier this month at Lexington Avenue and Straub Street in Rochester.

According to the Rochester Police Department, Moung No was crossing Lexington Avenue at Straub Street around 9:30 p.m. on Aug. 9 when a vehicle traveling eastbound struck him. The driver, later identified as 21-year-old Jordyn Green, reportedly checked on No after the collision and then fled the scene.

No was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with life-threatening injuries and passed away on Aug. 13. Rochester police later located the vehicle on Allendale Street. Green turned himself in and faces multiple charges, including leaving the scene of an accident resulting in death, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

PEDESTRIAN HIT-AND-RUN CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Despite massive fines and other severe penalties, some drivers still choose to flee the scene of a crash, leaving the victim behind and risking their lives. In most cases involving hit and runs, at-fault drivers like Green feel as though they can avoid the consequences of their actions if they leave the crash scene.

Sadly, thousands of pedestrians like No are killed each year by hit-and-run drivers. Of the more than 48,000 pedestrian deaths that were recorded in the United States between 1998 and 2007, 18.1% of them were caused by hit-and-run drivers. Alcohol use and an invalid license were among the leading driver factors associated with an increased risk of hit-and-run.

Candice Bond, an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney, said in many cases, the suspects flee the scene because they are intoxicated, driving without a license, or are concerned about being arrested if they remain at the scene.

"Having the proper resources is extremely important in order to investigate a hit-and-run accident case and prove negligence," said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

"Road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting are all possible contributing factors that are considered and must thoroughly be examined. These procedures are necessary for helping someone who has lost a loved one at the hands of a hit-and-run driver receive the justice and monetary compensation that they deserve. An attorney can also ensure that a hit-and-run driver is held accountable for their reckless actions." Bond added.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Based on the information available, the family of Moung No may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim.

A wrongful death claim is a civil action seeking financial damages brought by the estate or relatives of the deceased. Civil cases are distinct from criminal cases, which are prosecuted by the government and can result in punishment for the individual who committed a crime.

“Survivors of pedestrian accident victims who die due to a negligent driver may be entitled to a wrongful death claim, where they can receive compensation for damages,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“Losing a loved one is an immeasurable loss,” Bond continued. “It is not only a deeply emotional loss but also an economic one. It is crucial that families take immediate steps to protect their legal rights following such a tragedy.”
