HUNTINGTON BEACH, CA, (September 02, 2025) - A motorcycle crash early Wednesday in Huntington Beach left one man dead and his passenger critically injured, police reported. The incident occurred near Pacific Coast Highway and Warner Avenue.

police lights car crashPolice said a 27-year-old Anaheim woman was critically injured Wednesday morning in a motorcycle crash in Huntington Beach.

Miguel Angel Penalozagarcia, 35, of Santa Ana, was riding a 2006 Suzuki motorcycle north on Pacific Coast Highway around 12:15 a.m. When, for unknown reasons, he collided with a guardrail south of Warner Avenue and lost control. Authorities believe another vehicle may have struck Penalozagarcia after the crash, and that driver reportedly fled the scene.

The passenger, a 27-year-old woman from Anaheim, was taken to the hospital with life-threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), there were an estimated 84,000 motorcyclists injured in 2019, which was a decrease of about 0.8% from the 84,225 motorcyclists injured in 2018.

Candice Bond, an experienced motorcycle accident attorney, said that it is imperative to have an independent probe conducted to preserve evidence for a victim in cases such as this.

“In addition to a police report, an attorney will carefully review what may have contributed to the crash,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide the heartbroken family of a victim during this difficult time, protecting their legal rights and best interests while ensuring that a driver is held accountable if they do not obey traffic laws.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the investigation results, the injured victim may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, noted that the stress and worry following a serious injury can be overwhelming, affecting all aspects of life, including family, work, finances, and overall quality of life.

“It is vital for victims to hire an attorney when filing a personal injury claim, which allows them to negotiate with an insurance company on behalf of a client,” Bond said.

“Insurance companies often try to pressure victims to settle for a quick payout far below the value of the case. However, an attorney will vigorously advocate for their clients to ensure they are treated with respect and compensated fairly.”
