61-Year-Old Woman Killed in Sea World Drive Crash, Officials Say
SAN DIEGO, CA, (August 30, 2025) - A deadly hit-and-run early Saturday morning in San Diego claimed the life of 61-year-old Celeste Necochea, authorities reported.
Celeste Necochea, 61, was identified as the victim of a deadly two-vehicle crash that occurred early Saturday morning in San Diego.
The crash, involving two vehicles, occurred shortly before 12:30 a.m. near the 100 block of Sea World Drive. Officers found Necochea unconscious among damaged trees and shrubbery along the roadway. She died from multiple blunt force injuries.
It remains unclear whether Necochea was driving or a passenger. No information has been released about the suspect, and the investigation is ongoing.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
California law clearly says that fleeing the scene of a crash is a crime. Still, some drivers choose to drive off, jeopardizing the lives of victims. An average of 682,000 hit-and-run crashes occurred each year since 2006. Nearly 65 percent of people killed in hit-and-run crashes were pedestrians or bicyclists, according to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety.
“Having the proper resources is extremely important to investigate a hit-and-run case and prove negligence,” said Candice Bond, an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney and a Managing Partner of Bond Legal.
“Road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting are all possible contributing factors that are considered and must thoroughly be examined. These procedures are necessary for helping those who have lost a loved one receive the justice that they deserve.”
Added Bond, the national analyst for The Legal Advocate, “The driver always has to take great care behind the wheel.”
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
Pending the investigation, the family of Celeste Necochea may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims can seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a catastrophic accident.
“The stress and grief following the loss of a loved one in an accident can be overwhelming,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.
“We understand the challenges families face, and protecting their rights is essential. A wrongful death attorney will monitor the official investigation and work to ensure the family’s legal rights and best interests are fully safeguarded.”
