Big Bear Resident Killed in Crash Off Main Street, Authorities Report

HESPERIA, CA, (July 28, 2025) - A tragic accident in Hesperia on Monday night claimed the life of 58-year-old Jack Brewer, a Big Bear resident, after he was struck by a Tesla while riding his bicycle.

Police Lights car crashJack Brewer, a 58-year-old resident of Big Bear, was tragically struck and killed by a vehicle Monday night along Main Street in Hesperia, according to authorities.

According to the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department, the collision occurred around 10 p.m. along Main Street, just east of Escondido Avenue. Preliminary reports indicate that a 2018 Tesla was traveling westbound in the No. 2 lane when it struck Brewer, throwing him into a nearby field.

Brewer was pronounced dead at the scene due to the severity of his injuries.

The Sheriff’s Major Accident Investigation Team is actively investigating the incident. No further details have been released.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Unlike people traveling in vehicles, bicyclists do not have the protection of seat belts, airbags, and other safety features and are vulnerable every time they are on the roadways. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, 1,105 bicyclists were killed in motor-vehicle traffic crashes in 2022, a 13% increase from 976 in 2021.

“Bicyclists are particularly vulnerable on the road, and many factors can contribute to serious crashes,” said Candice Bond, a Managing Partner with Bond Legal and an experienced bicycle accident attorney.

“It is imperative to come to a determination of the exact cause of these types of accidents. An attorney has the resources to review applicable insurance coverage, hire expert witnesses, run background checks, and locate witnesses. We carefully guide the family of the victim through the process.

Bond noted that in cases such as this, it is important to have an independent investigation conducted sooner than later to preserve any evidence.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of Jack Brewer may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving family members of wrongful death victims can seek compensation for damages such as loss of companionship, emotional distress, pain and suffering, and other hardships resulting from a catastrophic incident like this.

“Families coping with the sudden loss of a loved one are often overwhelmed by the legal process,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“An experienced attorney can be a compassionate and invaluable ally, helping to navigate the complexities of the case and ensuring the family receives the justice and compensation they deserve,” Bond added.
