PACOIMA, CA, (August 04, 2025) - A tragic hit-and-run Monday night in Pacoima claimed the lives of 76-year-old Gloria Vasquez and her dog after they were struck by a vehicle while walking near Osborne and Haddon streets.

Hit-and-run PosterGloria Vasquez, 76, was tragically struck and killed by a hit-and-run driver Monday night in Pacoima, according to authorities.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, the collision occurred shortly after 8 p.m. when a white Honda Accord, traveling eastbound on Osborne Street, hit Vasquez and her dog. The driver fled the scene but was later located and arrested. He has been booked for felony hit-and-run causing death.

Authorities are asking anyone with additional information about the incident to contact LAPD at 818-644-8025. The investigation remains ongoing.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Hit-and-run drivers don’t just abandon the victims of a crash, they virtually undermine the safety of the streets and the rules of the road. Nearly 65 percent of people killed in hit-and-run crashes were pedestrians or bicyclists, according to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety.

“Having the proper resources is extremely important to investigate a pedestrian accident case and prove negligence,” said Candice Bond, an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney and a Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

Added Bond, the national analyst for The Legal Advocate, “The driver always has to take great care behind the wheel.”

An attorney will carefully review what may have contributed to the crash and has the resources to hire expert witnesses, locate witnesses to the crash, and review applicable insurance coverage.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the results of the investigation, the family of Gloria Vasquez may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families of wrongful death victims can seek compensation for damages such as loss of companionship, emotional distress, and pain and suffering following a tragic accident like this.

“The grief and devastation that follow the sudden loss of a loved one can be overwhelming,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“A wrongful death attorney can stay closely involved with the investigation and serve as a compassionate advocate, ensuring that the family's legal rights and best interests are fully protected,” Bond added.
