pedestrian hit killedErika Edwards, 36, from Van Nuys, was fatally struck by a hit-and-run driver in Hollywood Sunday night, police reported.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

If involved in a hit-and-run, the law requires sharing information and notifying emergency services—prompt medical aid can save lives. Between 2013 and 2019, hit-and-run crashes caused about 20% of pedestrian fatalities, per the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

“Having the proper resources is vital to investigate hit-and-run cases and prove negligence,” said Candice Bond, experienced hit-and-run attorney and Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

Bond, also a national analyst for The Legal Advocate, added, “Drivers must always exercise great care behind the wheel.”

“Accident reconstruction teams are sometimes needed to piece together what happened. These resources are essential to help clients receive fair compensation for damages or losses after a collision.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Erika Edwards may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims can seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic accident.

“The stress and sorrow can be overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Candice Bond, Of Counsel with Bond Legal.

“We understand what families endure, and protecting their rights is essential. A wrongful death lawyer will stay informed on the investigation and help ensure their legal rights and best interests are upheld.”
