The Goleta resident was struck early Sunday morning on Calle Real
GOLETA, CA, (June 29, 2025) - Jennifer Lynn Bradshaw, 42, was fatally struck by a vehicle early Sunday morning in Western Goleta, the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office reported.
Jennifer Lynn Bradshaw, 42, was fatally struck by a vehicle in a pedestrian collision on Calle Real in Goleta early Sunday morning, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 12:55 a.m. on Calle Real near the 7-Eleven store. Preliminary findings indicate that a 68-year-old woman driving westbound lost sight of her path due to the bright headlights of an oncoming vehicle and veered right, striking Bradshaw, who was found lying off the roadway.
Bradshaw died from her injuries at the scene. The driver reportedly took her eyes off the road prior to the collision.
The Sheriff’s Major Accident Response Team is investigating. No further details have been released.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
A careful driver knows that any collision with a pedestrian can cause serious or fatal injuries, as pedestrians lack physical protection. Since 2011, pedestrian deaths nationwide have risen by 68%, highlighting a growing concern.
“In most cases, pedestrians have the right of way when crossing a street or intersection, even if not in a marked crosswalk,” said Candice Bond, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.
Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal, emphasized the importance of an independent investigation by a seasoned attorney to protect the victim’s family.
“An attorney acts as an advocate, guiding families compassionately during difficult times and ensuring drivers are held accountable when traffic laws are broken.”
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
“It is almost always a driver’s duty to yield to any pedestrian,” said Candice Bond, of counsel at Bond Legal. The family members of the victim killed in the crash may be entitled to a wrongful death claim.
“Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of income and companionship, pain and suffering, funeral expenses, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident,” Bond added.
Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide a family through this difficult time while protecting their rights.
“Insurance companies often try to pressure victims to settle for a quick payout far less than the case is worth,” Bond noted. “However, an attorney will vigorously advocate for their client to ensure they are treated with respect and compensated fairly.”
