Pedestrian fatally struck Monday night on Glenside Road

MILLVILLE, NJ, (October 21, 2024) - A 21-year-old woman was fatally injured Monday night in a hit-and-run accident in Millville.

Hit-and-RunCaroline Bump was fatally injured Monday night when she was struck by a hit-and-run motorist along Glenside Road in Millville.

According to the Cumberland County Prosecutor's Office, Caroline Bump, of Millville, was struck by a 2003 Infiniti G35 along Glenside Road around 11:11 p.m.

Emergency responders were not made aware of the crash until early Tuesday morning and tragically declared Bump deceased at the scene.

The driver of the Infiniti fled the site and remains at large. Investigators say the vehicle has New Jersey tag E41RLB and may have damage to the driver's side headlight, front bumper, and windshield.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident and are actively looking to speak with a 22-year-old Vineland woman but did not offer further details.

HIT-AND-RUN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Leaving the scene of an accident is a crime, but sadly statistics indicate that approximately 11 percent of all crashes involve a hit-and-run driver.

AAA said drivers could avoid hit-and-run crashes by being aware of their surroundings, yielding to crossing pedestrians even if they’re not in designated crosswalks, and giving cyclists “plenty” of space when passing them on the road.

While the cause and liability of the crash are being investigated, Andrew G. Finkelstein, Managing Partner at Jacoby & Meyers Law Offices, said it is important that a competent attorney handles investigations into cases such as this to protect the rights of the victim’s family.

“It becomes essential to reconstruct the accident to identify all the parties involved and determine the circumstances that led to the accident.”

“Insurance companies are never on the side of a victim injured or killed in a motor vehicle accident,” said Finkelstein, an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney.

“According to the Insurance Research Institute, on average, an injured person who receives help from a lawyer ends up receiving three and a half times more money than those who do not.” Well-known lawyers like Finkelstein are experienced in such aspects and can help protect your rights by guiding every step of the process.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family members of Caroline Bump may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a catastrophic accident such as this tragic incident.

“Investigations that prove the negligence in wrongful death lawsuits must be handled by attorneys and their teams who understand the complexity of the process and can make it easy for the victim's family already reeling from the loss of their loved one.”

“Death caused due to someone’s negligence is a source of deep psychological trauma and can potentially derail the life of a person directly or indirectly related to the victim. Experienced lawyers will ensure the victim’s family can recover financially and try to get back to a stable place in their lives.”
