CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
Drivers can prevent hit-and-run crashes by remaining alert, avoiding distractions, and yielding to pedestrians—even those crossing outside of designated crosswalks. These simple actions can save lives.
According to national data, of the more than 48,000 pedestrian deaths recorded in the United States between 1998 and 2007, 18.1% were caused by hit-and-run drivers.
“Having the proper resources is extremely important to investigate a pedestrian accident case and prove negligence,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney.
Bond, who also serves as a national legal analyst for The Legal Advocate, emphasized the importance of a prompt and thorough investigation. “In addition to a police report, an attorney will carefully review what may have contributed to the crash,” she said. “In cases like this, preserving evidence through an independent investigation is crucial.”
Pending the investigation, the family of Carolina Sanchez-Villa may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims can seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a catastrophic accident such as this.
“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.
“Relatives of wrongful death victims are entitled to seek damages for the loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic event,” Bond added.
