Officials report the 6-year-old girl was transported to Stanford Hospital
BURLINGAME, CA, (August 08, 2025) - An out-of-control vehicle crashed into a poke restaurant in Burlingame Friday evening, striking two children—a 4-year-old boy and a 6-year-old girl. Tragically, the boy, identified as Ayden Everest Fang of Burlingame, died from his injuries.
Ayden Everest Fang, 4, tragically lost his life Friday evening after being struck by a vehicle outside a poke restaurant in Burlingame, authorities said.
Authorities said the incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. when a car driven by a San Mateo woman was entering Donnelly Avenue from the driveway of City Parking Lot D. The vehicle first collided with an eastbound e-bike, then the driver appeared to lose control, continuing across Donnelly Avenue and into the Truffle Bar Restaurant, where the children had just finished eating.
The 6-year-old girl was rushed to Stanford Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to support Ayden’s family.
The investigation is ongoing.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
Walking on American roads has grown increasingly dangerous over the years, largely due to the surge in heavier vehicles like SUVs and pickup trucks, speed-focused road design, and reckless driver behavior. Eighty-four percent of pedestrian deaths in 2023 occurred in urban areas, up from 59% in 1975, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).
“In most instances, pedestrians possess the right of way when crossing an intersection or a street regardless of if they are in a marked crosswalk,” said Candice Bond, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.
Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal, noted that it’s imperative to have an independent probe conducted by a seasoned lawyer to help protect the rights of the victim’s family in cases such as this.
Each case is unique and must be investigated thoroughly. Time is of the essence in cases such as this and the family of the victim must ensure that evidence is reviewed in an efficient manner.
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
“It is almost always a driver’s responsibility to yield to pedestrians,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. The family of Ayden Everest Fang may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim.
“Families of wrongful death victims can seek damages for loss of income and companionship, pain and suffering, funeral expenses, and emotional distress following such a tragic accident,” Bond explained.
“Insurance companies often push for quick settlements that undervalue the true worth of a case,” Bond added. “An attorney will fiercely advocate for their clients to ensure they receive the respect and fair compensation they deserve.”
