Crash on West Riverside Drive Claims Life, Two in Critical Condition
ELYSIAN VALLEY, CA, (August 02, 2025) - A multi-vehicle collision on Saturday afternoon in Los Angeles’ Elysian Valley neighborhood resulted in the death of Anthony Silverwood and injuries to four others.
Anthony Silverwood, 36, was killed Saturday afternoon following a three-vehicle collision along West Riverside Drive in Elysian Valley, authorities said.
The crash occurred around 12:30 p.m. at 2427 West Riverside Drive involving three vehicles. Silverwood, 36, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Among the injured were a 62-year-old woman and a 69-year-old man, both critically hurt and transported to a local hospital. Two other men, ages 34 and 35, sustained minor injuries.
Authorities are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
Each year, thousands of Americans die in motor vehicle accidents across the country. Experts believe the problem is complex, stemming from several factors, including reckless driving due to cellphone usage and an increase in sales of large-sized trucks and SUVs. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) estimates that 39,345 people died in traffic crashes in 2024.
“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all possible contributing factors that are considered and must thoroughly be examined,” said Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney and a Managing Partner with Bond Legal.
“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision,” said Bond.
Pending the investigation, the family members of Anthony Silverwood may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a catastrophic accident such as this.
“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.
“We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital. A wrongful death lawyer will stay updated on the official investigation and help ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.”
