Fatal Crash on Highway 242 Involves Antioch Resident
CONCORD, CA, (August 15, 2025) - A motorcyclist from Antioch was killed early Friday morning in a crash on State Highway 242 near the Grant Street exit in Concord, authorities reported.
The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that Alexander Ubaldo was the victim of a fatal collision involving his motorcycle and another vehicle on State Highway 242.
The Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as 42-year-old Alexander Ubaldo.
According to the California Highway Patrol, Ubaldo was riding his motorcycle around 4:30 a.m. when he was struck by another vehicle. He tragically died at the scene from injuries sustained in the collision.
Officials have not released further details, and the investigation into the crash is ongoing.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
Motorcycles offer little protection, and even a low-impact crash can cause serious injuries or be fatal to the rider. Motorists should be especially cautious around these vulnerable road users—give them plenty of space, slow down at intersections, and look twice before turning. Although motorcycles make up only 3% of all registered vehicles in the United States, motorcyclists accounted for 15.5% of all traffic fatalities and 3.4% of all injuries in 2023, according to the National Safety Council (NSC).
“Motorcycle riders are arguably the most vulnerable motorists on the roadways, given the fact that there are no airbags or sturdy windows to protect them from an impact,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.
“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision,” said Bond, an experienced accident attorney.
Bond stressed that in cases such as this, it is imperative to have an independent investigation into the crash conducted by a seasoned lawyer to protect the rights of the victim’s family.
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of Alexander Ubaldo may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims can seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a catastrophic accident.
“The stress and grief can be overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.
“A wrongful death attorney will monitor the investigation closely and help ensure that the victim’s legal rights and best interests are fully protected.”
