MCDONOUGH, GA, (June 21, 2025) -
A 16-year-old two-sport athlete from Sandy Creek High School was tragically killed Saturday night in a hit-and-run crash in McDonough, Henry County. The teen, identified by family members as Ty’leal Glaser, was struck by a vehicle while crossing the road with friends.
Details surrounding the exact time and location of the crash have not been released. Authorities say the driver fled the scene, leaving behind a damaged headlight. No arrests have been made, and the suspect remains at large.
Glaser’s mother, Teairra Payne, is pleading for accountability. “I would just ask if he would turn himself in. Just give me some justice,” she said.
The Henry County Police Department is actively investigating and asking anyone with information to come forward.
Ty’leal Glaser, 16, was fatally struck in a hit-and-run while crossing a street Saturday night in McDonough, authorities said.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
Despite harsh penalties and substantial fines, some drivers continue to flee the scene of crashes—often leaving behind severely injured or fatally wounded victims. In 2022, 345 pedestrians were killed in traffic crashes, marking a 12% increase from the 307 pedestrian fatalities recorded in 2021, according to official data.
“Having the proper resources is extremely important to investigate a hit-and-run case and prove negligence,” said Candice Bond, a veteran hit-and-run accident attorney and Managing Partner at Bond Legal.
Bond noted that investigators must thoroughly examine all contributing factors, including road conditions, signage visibility, and lighting. “These procedures are necessary for helping families who have lost a loved one receive the justice they deserve,” she added.
Bond, also a national legal analyst for The Legal Advocate, emphasized, “The driver always has a duty to exercise great care behind the wheel.”
Pending the results of the investigation, the family of Ty’leal Glaser may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families of wrongful death victims can seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional distress, pain and suffering, and other damages resulting from a catastrophic incident such as this.
“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.
“We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital. A wrongful death lawyer will remain closely involved with the official investigation and help ensure that the family’s legal rights and best interests are safeguarded.”
