Tameko Joseph, 42, was hit around 7:50 a.m. by a Bergen County Line train 1154 near Outwater Lane. Tragically, he died as a result of injuries.

Charmaine Brown, the fundraiser organizer, said the 42-year-old had been on his way to work at the time of the crash. "Tameko's loss has left a hole in our family that can never be filled," Brown wrote.

An investigation is underway.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

While the cause and liability of the crash are being investigated, Andrew G. Finkelstein, Managing Partner at Jacoby & Meyers Law Offices, said it is important that a competent attorney handles investigations into cases such as this to protect the rights of the victim's family.

Well-known lawyers such as Finkelstein, experienced in train-related accidents, can help protect your rights by guiding you through every step of the process.

"Serious accidents involving motor vehicles can bring physical, financial, and emotional trauma upon a victim. The results are more catastrophic when a train, commercial truck or other large vehicle is involved. Experienced attorneys familiar with such situations know ways to protect your rights and pursue compensation."

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family members of Tameko Joseph may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a catastrophic accident such as this incident.

"People who get into an auto accident suffer unimaginable consequences in the form of mental and physical pain, and, in cases of fatalities, the victim's family and loved ones are left devastated," Finkelstein said.

"It is always recommended that, as a victim, you don't give statements right away after the crash to an insurance company."

"You might be in shock, and anything said at the time may lower the chances of getting justice. Hiring an attorney will be the best route to protect your rights," added Finkelstein.
