FATAL HIT-AND-RUN ACCIDENT
It can be challenging to apprehend a hit-and-run driver who brazenly flees the scene after an accident.
In addition to the diligent work of the police, a seasoned attorney can assist by utilizing an investigator to locate witnesses, security camera footage, and additional evidence. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), California had the highest number of fatal hit-and-run incidents in the U.S. in 2023, with 457.
Many suspects flee the scene because they are intoxicated, driving without a license, or are concerned about being arrested if they remain. Candice Bond, an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney, said in cases such as this that it is imperative to have an independent investigation conducted by a seasoned attorney to protect a victim’s rights.
“Having the proper resources is crucial to investigating a hit-and-run accident case and proving negligence,” said Bond, a Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “Road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting are all potential contributing factors that are considered and must be thoroughly examined. These procedures are necessary for helping someone who has lost a loved one at the hands of a hit-and-run driver receive the justice and monetary compensation that they deserve.”
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
The family of Stacy Ann Denton may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim, which can cover medical and funeral expenses, loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and pain caused by the tragic accident.
“A wrongful death occurs when someone’s death results from the negligent or wrongful actions of another person or entity,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. “In cases involving unsafe driving, distracted or aggressive behavior, speeding, or driving under the influence, families often have the right to pursue a civil claim against those responsible.”
