35-year-old killed in hit-and-run on Pacific Coast Highway
HARBOR CITY, CA, (September 25, 2025) - Authorities said a 35-year-old man lost his life Thursday in a hit-and-run crash in Harbor City.
Sergio Maya, 35, tragically died Thursday afternoon after a hit-and-run crash on Pacific Coast Highway in Harbor City, police said.
The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed the victim’s identity as Sergio Maya. Police reported that Maya was riding his motorcycle eastbound on Pacific Coast Highway near Western Avenue when a silver van traveling west turned left in front of him, causing him to lose control. An older-model pickup then struck Maya, killing him at the scene.
Both drivers fled before officers arrived. The Los Angeles Police Department continues to investigate the incident and urges anyone with information to call 213-677-9791.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
Motorcycles offer little protection, and even a low-impact crash can cause serious injuries or be fatal to the rider. Motorists should be especially cautious around these vulnerable road users—give them plenty of space, slow down at intersections, and look twice before turning.
“It is imperative to come to a determination of the exact cause of these types of accidents. An attorney has the resources to review applicable insurance coverage, hire expert witnesses, run background checks, and locate witnesses. We carefully guide the family of the victim through the process.”
“Hit-and-run drivers are subject to criminal charges following an accident or collision that injures anyone on the road. Separate from criminal charges, victims of hit-and-run injury accidents may be entitled to a civil lawsuit,” said Candice Bond, a Managing Partner with Bond Legal.
“In addition to a police report, an attorney will carefully review what may have contributed to the crash,” added Bond, an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney.
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
Sergio Maya’s family may be entitled to a wrongful death claim following the fatal hit-and-run crash in Harbor City. Survivors can seek damages for loss of companionship, emotional distress, and pain and suffering resulting from a catastrophic accident.
Candice Bond, of counsel at Bond Legal, said, “Grieving families of victims are sometimes overwhelmed by the legal processes that are in place to protect their rights.”
“An attorney can provide compassionate guidance during this difficult time and help ensure that those left behind receive the restitution they are entitled to,” Bond added.
