FATAL PEDESTRIAN CRASH INVESTIGATION

Pedestrians are among the most vulnerable users of the roadway, lacking the protective features such as airbags, seat belts, or structural barriers that help safeguard occupants of vehicles. According to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), 7,314 pedestrians were killed in the U.S. in 2023. Since reaching a historic low in 2009, pedestrian deaths have surged by 78 percent. In California alone, 1,158 pedestrian fatalities occurred in 2022—a figure that has steadily climbed over the past decade.

Candice Bond, a seasoned pedestrian accident attorney and Managing Partner at Bond Legal, said that many pedestrian fatalities result from driver negligence, including failure to yield, distraction, or excessive speed. She emphasized the importance of an independent investigation to ensure accountability.

“In most instances, pedestrians have the right of way when crossing a street or intersection, regardless of whether a crosswalk is marked,” said Bond. “An experienced attorney can help guide a grieving family through this difficult time while working to ensure the driver is held accountable if traffic laws were violated.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family of Roderick Nared may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Such claims allow surviving loved ones to seek compensation for the loss of companionship, emotional distress, pain and suffering, and other damages resulting from a tragic incident.

“We understand the deep emotional toll these tragedies take on families, and it’s essential that their rights are protected,” said Candice Bond, Of Counsel with Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney can stay closely involved in the investigation, ensuring that the family's best interests are represented throughout the legal process.”

Relatives of wrongful death victims have the right to seek justice and financial recovery for the immense personal loss they’ve suffered.
