Cousins fatally injured in Wednesday morning crash at Broadway and Buena Vista Avenue

LEMON GROVE, CA, (January 01, 2025) - The San Diego County Sheriff's Department is investigating a New Year's Day accident that claimed the lives of two cousins in Lemon Grove.

Pedestrian AccidentNadia Charles and Junior Juste were fatally injured on New Year's Day when they were struck by a vehicle at Broadway and Buena Vista Avenue in Lemon Grove.

According to authorities, two vehicles collided at Broadway and Buena Vista Avenue shortly after 11 a.m. Upon impact, one of the vehicles careened into Nadia Charles and Junior Joseph Juste, who were on foot crossing the intersection at the time of the crash.

Tragically, Charles and Juste both died from injuries they sustained in the wreck.

Two additional people traveling in one of the vehicles suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

Officials say speed is a suspected factor.

PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

This tragic accident underscores the dangers that pedestrians face every day in this country.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), an estimated 67,336 pedestrian accidents occurred in 2022, resulting in 7,522 fatalities.

“Road conditions, visibility, and lighting are all possible contributing factors considered and examined,” said Candice Bond, a Managing Partner with Bond Legal.

“An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision,” said Bond, an experienced pedestrian attorney.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Nadia Charles and Junior Juste may pursue wrongful death claims. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident such as this.

"In the wake of a catastrophic accident, families deserve peace of mind. Completing an independent investigation while big insurance corporations want to weaken your case requires an attorney with full knowledge of the complex legal process and resources to fight by your side.

"Losing a loved one due to someone else’s negligence is an unimaginable tragedy. While no amount of compensation can bring them back, an experienced attorney can hold responsible parties accountable and help secure justice for your family."
