Trailer from Ogram’s truck hit two motorcyclists before he fled scene, police say
REDDING, CA, (August 22, 2025) - Two people were injured in a hit-and-run crash on Aug. 22 in Redding after a trailer detached from a silver pickup truck allegedly driven by 39-year-old Daniel Ogram, police said.
Two motorcyclists were injured in an Aug. 22 hit-and-run crash on Lake Boulevard in Redding, and police are searching for 39-year-old Daniel Ogram in connection with the incident.
Officers reported seeing Ogram leave his home in the same truck and attempted a traffic stop, but he fled. During the pursuit, Ogram rammed a police vehicle before abandoning the truck on Forgotten Trail and escaping on foot. Despite searches by ground and air units, he remained at large as of Tuesday afternoon.
Authorities noted Ogram has an extensive criminal history. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to contact the Redding Police Department.
FATAL HIT-AND-RUN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION
Leaving the scene of an accident is a crime, but approximately 11 percent of all crashes involve a hit-and-run driver.
Many suspects flee the scene because they are intoxicated, driving without a license, or are concerned about being arrested if they remain. More than one in every 10 accidents in California are hit-and-runs.
Candice Bond, an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney, said in cases such as this that it is imperative to have an independent investigation conducted by a seasoned attorney to protect a victim’s rights.
“Having the proper resources is crucial to investigate a hit-and-run accident case and prove negligence,” said Bond, a Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “Road conditions, signage visibility, and road lighting are all potential contributing factors that are considered and must be thoroughly examined. These procedures are necessary for helping someone who has lost a loved one at the hands of a hit-and-run driver receive the justice and monetary compensation that they deserve.”
PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM
The victims injured in this accident may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, noted that the stress and worry following a serious injury can be overwhelming, disrupting all aspects of life, including family, work, finances, and overall quality of life.
“Although no amount of money can make up for a devastating injury, it is important that a victim is made aware of their rights and what they are entitled to by law,” Bond added. “The injured victim in this collision may be entitled to an injury claim and may seek recovery for damages including medical expenses, future medical care, pain and suffering, and emotional trauma.”
