FATAL PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION
Pedestrians such as Ms. Luna remain vulnerable despite a variety of laws protecting them.
Every day, motorists who ignore signs, are distracted, or impaired, seriously injure or kill pedestrians. Approximately 7,314 pedestrians were fatally injured in traffic crashes in the U.S. in 2023. In 2021, California experienced 1,108 pedestrian fatalities, which accounted for over a quarter of all traffic-related deaths in the state, according to the California Office of Traffic Safety.
“In most instances, pedestrians possess the right of way when crossing an intersection or a street, regardless of whether they are in a marked crosswalk,” said Candice Bond, an experienced pedestrian accident attorney.
Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal, noted that in addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview important witnesses, analyze any surveillance video from the scene of the crash, and obtain phone and texting records of the liable party.
