The crash occurred around 1:44 p.m. on Summit Valley Road near Foley Road. Preliminary findings from the California Highway Patrol indicate that a Toyota Tacoma made an unsafe turn into the northbound lane and struck Morris’ 2017 Honda Accord. The impact caused Morris to lose control, sending his vehicle into the path of a southbound FedEx Ground truck. A GMC pickup was also involved in the chain-reaction collision.

Sadly, Morris died at the scene. A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to assist his family with funeral costs and related expenses.

Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Unsafe turning maneuvers—particularly left turns—are often hazardous due to limited visibility and drivers misjudging the speed or distance of oncoming vehicles. Preliminary data from the NHTSA indicates that an estimated 39,345 people died in traffic collisions nationwide in 2024.

As the cause and liability of this crash are still under investigation, Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and a seasoned accident attorney, emphasized the importance of an independent legal review.

“In addition to the official work by law enforcement, an attorney can conduct their own investigation by re-interviewing key witnesses, reviewing surveillance footage, and examining phone or texting records of the at-fault driver,” said Bond, who also serves as a national analyst for The Legal Advocate.

“In cases like this, time is critical—it's essential that evidence is preserved and evaluated promptly to protect the rights of the victim’s family.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of Jason A. Morris may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving family members can seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, and other damages stemming from a catastrophic loss.

“We understand that losing someone is both an emotional and financial burden,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“If your loved one’s death resulted from another party’s negligence, it’s crucial to consult a wrongful death attorney who can guide you through the legal process and help you obtain the justice and compensation you deserve.”
