Passenger Injured in Highway 101 Crash Between Camaro and GMC

SEQUIM, WA, (August 25, 2025) - A man was hospitalized following a two-vehicle accident Tuesday evening on U.S. Highway 101 near Sequim.

A 33-year-old Sequim man was hospitalized following a two-vehicle accident Monday night in Sequim.Dillon Cummings, a passenger in a Chevy Camaro, was injured when the vehicle collided with a GMC pickup truck on U.S. Route 101 near milepost 264 in Clallam County.

According to Washington State Patrol, 27-year-old Dillon Cummings was a passenger in a Chevrolet Camaro traveling north when it collided with a GMC Sierra near Old Olympic Highway at about 7:20 p.m. Cummings was transported to Olympic Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.

Troopers said the driver of the Camaro was also injured, while the GMC driver was not hurt. The crash remains under investigation.

TWO-VEHICLE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION NEEDED

The State Patrol cited DUI and speed as factors in the collision.

According to Mothers Against Drunk Driving (MADD), each year about 300,000 people are injured in the United States in alcohol-related crashes. Drivers under the influence can suffer from a lack of judgment, impaired vision, reduced coordination, and delayed reaction time.

Candice Bond, an experienced auto accident attorney, was interviewed and provided her thoughts on incidents such as this one.

“Separate from criminal charges, a victim may be entitled to compensation through a civil lawsuit against the responsible party,” said Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a national analyst for The Legal Advocate. “In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview important witnesses, analyze any surveillance video from the scene of the crash, and obtain phone and text records of the liable party. Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide injured victims during this difficult time, protecting their legal rights while ensuring that driverd who takes the wheel under the influence are held accountable for their actions.”

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the results of the investigation, Dillon Cummings may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, noted that the stress and worry following a serious injury can be overwhelming and disrupt all aspects of life, including family, work, finances, and overall quality of life.

“It is vital for victims to hire an attorney when filing a personal injury claim, which allows the attorney to negotiate with an insurance company on behalf of a client,” Bond added. “Insurance companies often try to pressure victims to settle for a quick payout for far less than the case is worth. However, an attorney will vigorously advocate for clients to ensure that they are treated with respect and compensated fairly.”
