FATAL BICYCLE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

It is unknown if alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.

California’s roads pose a unique danger for bicycle riders. According to SafeTrac, a company that tracks accident data, 177 bicyclists were killed in motor vehicle crashes across the state in 2022. Nationally, bicyclist fatalities rose by 13.2% between 2021 and 2022.

“Bicyclists are particularly vulnerable on the road, and many factors can contribute to serious crashes,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. “It is imperative to determine the exact cause of these types of accidents. An attorney has the resources to review insurance coverage, hire expert witnesses, conduct background checks, and locate witnesses. We carefully guide the family of the victim through the process.”

Bond added that in cases like this, it is crucial to conduct an independent investigation promptly to preserve evidence.

“In addition to a police report, an attorney will carefully review what may have contributed to the crash,” Bond said.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the results of the investigation, the family of Dennis Alan Scheideman may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving family members of wrongful death victims may seek compensation for loss of love and companionship, funeral expenses, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.

Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and national analyst for The Legal Advocate, stated: “Grieving families of victims are often overwhelmed by the legal processes that exist to protect their rights. An attorney can be a valuable and compassionate resource, guiding families during this difficult time and ensuring that those left behind receive the restitution they deserve.”
