The Riverside County Sheriff’s Department Coroner’s Bureau identified the victim as Augustine Garcia. According to investigators, Garcia was riding through the intersection of Bundy Canyon Road and Harvest Way around 6 p.m. when he was struck by an unidentified vehicle.

Garcia, a Wildomar resident, died at the scene. Authorities said the driver responsible fled and did not remain at the site of the crash.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Lake Elsinore Sheriff’s Station. The case remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

California law clearly says that fleeing the scene of a crash is a crime. Still, some drivers choose to drive off, jeopardizing the lives of victims. An average of 682,000 hit-and-run crashes occurred each year since 2006. Nearly 65 percent of people killed in hit-and-run crashes were pedestrians or bicyclists, according to the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety.

“Motorcyclists are arguably the most vulnerable motorists on the road,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

Bond, an experienced motorcycle accident attorney, noted that in cases such as this, it is imperative to have an independent investigation into the crash conducted by a seasoned lawyer to protect the family of a victim’s rights.

“Blind spots, inexperienced drivers, and distracted motorists are often the cause of these types of collisions. Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide a family during this difficult time, protecting their rights, while ensuring that a driver is held accountable if they do not obey traffic laws.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Augustine Garcia may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving family members may seek damages for loss of companionship, emotional distress, pain and suffering, and other hardships following a tragic accident such as this.

“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

“We understand the challenges families are forced to endure, and protecting their rights is vital. A wrongful death attorney will remain informed on the official investigation and work to ensure that the family’s legal rights and best interests are safeguarded.”
