Granite Bay Man Killed in Motorcycle Crash on Folsom Auburn Road
GRANITE BAY, CA, (September 21, 2025) - Authorities in Placer County reported that a Granite Bay man was killed in a motorcycle crash on Sunday afternoon.
(GoFundMe)Authorities reported that 70-year-old Curt Van Hooser died in a motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon in Placer County.
Curt Van Hooser, 70, was riding near the intersection of Folsom Auburn Road and Joe Rodgers Road when a vehicle that failed to stop collided with his motorcycle. Van Hooser, known for his love of motorcycling and for founding a Harley-Davidson enthusiast group, was pronounced dead at the scene. His wife, Cyndee Reed Van Hooser, has started a GoFundMe to honor his memory. The driver of the car has not been identified, and authorities continue to investigate the incident.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
Motorcycles offer little protection, and even a low-impact crash can cause serious injuries or be fatal to the rider. Motorists should be especially cautious around these vulnerable road users—give them plenty of space, slow down at intersections, and look twice before turning. Although motorcycles make up only 3% of all registered vehicles in the United States, motorcyclists accounted for 15.5% of all traffic fatalities and 3.4% of all injuries in 2023, according to the National Safety Council (NSC).
“Motorcyclists are arguably the most vulnerable motorists on the road,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.
Bond, an experienced motorcycle accident attorney, noted that in cases such as this, it is imperative to have an independent investigation into the crash conducted by a seasoned lawyer to protect the rights of the victim's family.
“Blind spots, inexperienced drivers, and distracted motorists often cause these types of collisions. Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide a family during this difficult time, protecting their rights while ensuring that a driver is held accountable if they do not obey traffic laws.”
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
Pending the outcome of the investigation, the family of Curt Van Hooser may be eligible to pursue a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims can seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic accident like this.
“The grief and stress after losing a loved one in a crash can be overwhelming,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.
“We know the challenges families face during such difficult times. Protecting their rights is essential, and a wrongful death attorney can monitor the investigation while ensuring the family’s legal rights and best interests are fully represented.”
