The accident occurred around 2:50 a.m. on Limonite Avenue, west of Beach Street, where deputies found two vehicles—including a van—blocking eastbound lanes. Two occupants suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene, while several others were transported for treatment.

FATAL DUI ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Every day, roughly 34 people die in the U.S. due to drunk-driving crashes — equating to one life lost every 42 minutes. In 2023 alone, 12,429 people were killed in alcohol-impaired driving incidents nationwide. In California, alcohol-related fatalities made up 32% of the state's 4,285 traffic deaths in 2021.

“These crashes are not accidents — they’re entirely preventable,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and a national analyst for The Legal Advocate. “Driving under the influence puts everyone at risk and often leads to irreversible tragedy.”

Bond emphasized that victims' families have legal recourse in addition to the criminal proceedings the at-fault driver may face. “Separate from criminal charges, a victim’s family may be entitled to compensation through a civil lawsuit against the responsible party,” she said.

“Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide grieving families during this difficult time, protecting their legal rights while ensuring that drunk drivers are held accountable for their reckless actions.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The families of those tragically killed in the Riverside County DUI crash may be entitled to pursue wrongful death claims. These civil actions allow surviving loved ones to seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional suffering, funeral costs, and other related damages.

“We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. “A wrongful death lawyer will stay updated on the official investigation and help ensure that their best interests are taken care of.”

Bond emphasized that legal claims can be an important path to justice for grieving families. “Relatives of wrongful death victims are entitled to seek damages for the loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident,” she added.
