Brian Posch Killed in Early Tuesday Train Accident Near Cranford Station on Raritan Valley Line
UNION, NJ, (August 19, 2025) - A tragic early-morning incident in Union County claimed the life of a 29-year-old man struck by a New Jersey Transit train.
Brian Posch tragically died early Tuesday morning after being struck by a train near Cranford Station in Union County.
NJ Transit reported that a Raritan Valley Line train struck the man near Cranford Station at approximately 1:44 a.m. Officials identified the victim as Brian Posch, a resident of Clark.
The train had departed Newark Penn Station around 1:28 a.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Raritan at 2:34 a.m. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
According to the National Transportation Safety Bureau (NTSB), approximately 1,000 people are killed in train-related accidents each year. During the probe, investigators will also examine if the area where Posch was hit was made safe for pedestrians.
While the cause and liability of the crash are being investigated, Andrew G. Finkelstein, Managing Partner at Jacoby & Meyers Law Offices, said it is important that a competent attorney handles investigations into cases such as this to protect the rights of the victim's family.
Well-known lawyers such as Finkelstein, experienced in train-related accidents, can help protect your rights by guiding you through every step of the process.
"Serious accidents involving motor vehicles can bring physical, financial, and emotional trauma upon a victim. The results are more catastrophic when a train, commercial truck or other large vehicle is involved. Experienced attorneys familiar with such situations know ways to protect your rights and pursue compensation."
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
Pending the investigation, the family of Brian Posch may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a catastrophic accident such as this.
“People involved in train accidents suffer unimaginable consequences in the form of mental and physical pain, and, in cases of fatalities, the victim’s family and loved ones are left devastated,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.
“It is always recommended that, as a victim or surviving family member, you avoid giving statements immediately after a crash to insurance companies. You might be in shock, and anything said at the time could reduce the chances of obtaining justice. Hiring an attorney is the best way to protect your legal rights.”
