Nicholas McWhirter was driving a Nissan Versa with his son when the vehicle was struck by a Nissan Rogue operated by an 18-year-old woman. The crash sent the Versa into oncoming traffic, where it collided with a Ford Mustang Mach-E. Both McWhirters were pronounced dead at the scene.

The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash.
