32-Year-Old Arturo Guerrero Arrested at Watsonville Home After Santa Cruz Hit-and-Run
SANTA CRUZ, CA, (August 04, 2025) - A pedestrian was seriously injured Monday night after being struck by a driver with a suspended license in Santa Cruz, police said. The collision occurred at the intersection of Highway 1 and River Street.
Arturo Guerrero, 32, has been identified as the driver who struck and seriously injured a pedestrian Monday night in Santa Cruz, authorities said.
According to authorities, 32-year-old Arturo Guerrero was driving northbound on Highway 1 around 8:50 p.m. when he hit a pedestrian who was walking in a marked crosswalk. The victim, identified only as a 42-year-old, was transported to a nearby trauma center for treatment.
Guerrero fled the scene after the crash but was later located and arrested at his residence in Watsonville. He faces charges of felony hit-and-run and driving with a suspended license.
The incident remains under investigation.
CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
Fleeing the scene of a crash is a serious offense, yet some drivers think they can get away with the consequences. Staying at the crash site and rendering aid to a victim can be the difference between life and death. According to the California Office of Traffic Safety, there was a 12% increase in hit-and-runs with pedestrians in 2022.
Candice Bond, an experienced hit-and-run accident attorney, said in cases such as this, it is imperative to have an independent investigation conducted promptly by a seasoned attorney to protect the victim’s rights.
“Having the proper resources is extremely important to investigate a hit-and-run accident case and prove negligence,” said Bond, a Managing Partner of Bond Legal.
“An attorney can also ensure that a hit-and-run driver is held accountable for reckless actions.”
PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM
Pending the results of the investigation, the injured pedestrian may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Bond noted that the stress and worry following a serious injury can be overwhelming, affecting all aspects of life including family, work, finances, and overall well-being.
“It is vital for victims to hire an attorney when filing a personal injury claim, which allows them to negotiate with an insurance company on behalf of a client,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.
“Insurance companies often pressure victims to settle quickly for far less than what the case is actually worth. An experienced attorney will fight to ensure their client is treated fairly and receives the compensation they deserve.”
