Waterville Fatal Motorcycle Accident July 24th; Zachary Lambert Killed in Motorcycle CrashZachary Lambert, 41, was tragically killed late Thursday in a motorcycle crash on the Anthony Wayne Trail in Waterville.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Lambert was riding northeast around 11:38 p.m. when a Chevrolet 2500 pickup driven by an 18-year-old traveling in the opposite direction collided with him. Lambert, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene.

Authorities are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.

FATAL MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

Sadly, law-abiding motorcyclists such as Mr. Lambert continue to be overrepresented in fatal traffic crashes.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 6,335 motorcyclists were killed in 2023—the highest number recorded since at least 1975. Common causes of motorcycle collisions include speeding, driver error, distracted driving, and failure to yield the right of way.

While the cause and liability of the crash are still under investigation, Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal and a seasoned motorcycle accident attorney, emphasized the importance of conducting an independent investigation.

"Motorcyclists are arguably the most vulnerable motorists on the road, and several factors can contribute to fatal crashes," said Bond. "Blind spots, inexperienced drivers, and distracted motorists often cause these types of collisions. An accident reconstruction team and even motorcycle manufacturing experts are oftentimes necessary to help piece together what happened and protect the rights of the victim’s family."

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

The family members of Zachary Lambert may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Relatives of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, emotional distress, and other hardships following a tragic or catastrophic accident.

“We understand the overwhelming grief that families experience after losing a loved one in such a sudden and heartbreaking way,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney will remain closely involved in the investigation and help ensure that the family’s legal rights and best interests are fully protected throughout the process.”
