Collision with Ram pickup reported at Stoltzman Road and 195th Street intersection
MANKATO TWP, MN, (July 17, 2025) - Authorities are investigating a tragic motorcycle accident that claimed the life of 72-year-old Steven Thomas Raymond on Thursday afternoon in Mankato Township.
Steven Thomas Raymond tragically died in a crash involving a Ram 3500 pickup truck at the intersection of Stoltzman Road and 195th Street in Mankato Township.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Raymond was riding a Triumph Thruxton motorcycle northbound on Stoltzman Road at approximately 3:26 p.m. when he collided with a Ram 3500 pickup truck. The truck, driven by a 52-year-old man from Garden City, was traveling west on 195th Street at the time of the crash.
Raymond was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.
FATAL MOTORCYCLE ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION
As authorities investigate the tragic crash, Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, emphasized the critical need for experienced attorneys to conduct thorough, independent investigations in the aftermath of fatal accidents. These investigations delve into all possible contributing factors, including driver error, visibility, impairment, and road conditions.
Motorcyclists remain among the most vulnerable on U.S. roadways. Due to their lack of external protection and reduced visibility to other drivers, the risks of fatal or catastrophic injury are disproportionately high for motorcyclists.
“Motorcycle riders are arguably the most vulnerable motorists on the roadways, given the fact that there are no airbags or sturdy windows to protect them from an impact,” said Bond, who also serves as a national analyst for The Legal Advocate. “Motorcycle accident victims who sustain injuries at the expense of a negligent motorist may file a personal injury claim for damages. However, in the tragic event that a crash results in death, surviving family members may pursue a wrongful death lawsuit to seek justice and compensation.”
Bond added, “While no amount of money can ever replace a lost loved one, contacting and retaining a wrongful death attorney is a vital step. It's our responsibility to guide grieving families and help restore some measure of stability and support in the wake of an untimely loss.”
According to data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), more than 6,000 motorcyclists were killed in crashes in 2022, accounting for 15% of all traffic-related fatalities that year. Furthermore, in 2017, motorcyclists were 27 times more likely than passenger vehicle occupants to die in a crash per vehicle mile traveled.
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
Pending the results of the investigation, the family members of Steven Thomas Raymond may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Such a claim may allow them to seek compensation for the loss of love and companionship, funeral expenses, pain and suffering, and emotional distress resulting from this tragic and sudden loss.
Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, emphasized the importance of legal support during such devastating times.
“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming if you, a friend, or a family member have suffered a personal injury or the loss of a loved one following an accident,” said Bond. “We understand what victims and their families are forced to endure, and ensuring their rights are protected is crucial. A wrongful death attorney will monitor the official investigation closely and work to ensure that the family’s legal rights and best interests are preserved.”
