The crash occurred around 6:15 a.m. near the intersection of Olympic Parkway and Windingwalk Street. Preliminary findings indicate the officer was traveling west on Olympic Parkway and attempting to turn left onto Windingwalk Street when the patrol car collided with Robledo’s eastbound motorcycle.

Robledo was transported to a hospital, where he tragically died from his injuries. The officer’s identity has not been released.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched to support Robledo’s surviving family, including his wife, young son, and mother.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) is leading the investigation into the collision.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Unlike vehicle occupants, motorcyclists lack the protection of seat belts, airbags, or enclosed cabins. As a result, they are far more vulnerable in the event of a crash. Extra caution is especially needed when drivers are making left-hand turns—a common factor in motorcycle fatalities. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), 42% of fatal motorcycle crashes involving another vehicle occur when a car is turning left.

“Motorcyclists are arguably the most vulnerable motorists on the road,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.

Bond, an experienced motorcycle accident attorney, emphasized that in cases like this, it is critical to conduct an independent investigation to protect the legal rights of the victim’s family.

“Blind spots, inexperienced drivers, and distracted motorists frequently contribute to these tragic collisions,” Bond said. “Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide a grieving family during this difficult time—ensuring their rights are protected and that any negligent driver is held fully accountable.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Simon Robledo may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, emotional distress, and other damages following a catastrophic accident such as this.

“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. “We understand just what families are forced to go through, and having their rights protected is vital. A wrongful death lawyer will remain closely involved with the investigation and work to ensure that the family’s legal rights and best interests are protected.”
