According to authorities, a 20-year-old driver ran a red light at high speed and struck another vehicle. The impact forced the second vehicle onto the sidewalk, where it crashed into the bench where Ramirez was waiting. He died from his injuries at the scene.

The 20-year-old driver was seriously injured and transported to a trauma center.

A GoFundMe has been established to support Ramirez’s family with funeral expenses. The crash remains under active investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Drivers who run red lights are often aware of the risks, yet this dangerous behavior continues to cause devastating accidents across the country. According to the Federal Highway Administration, each day in the U.S., an average of seven fatal crashes and more than 1,000 injury crashes occur at signalized intersections.

As the investigation into the Long Beach crash continues, Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and a national legal analyst for The Legal Advocate, emphasized the importance of an independent legal review.

“In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview key witnesses, review surveillance footage, and obtain critical evidence such as phone and texting records from the at-fault driver,” said Bond. “These steps are essential to ensure accountability and help grieving families pursue justice.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Carlos Ramirez may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Surviving family members of wrongful death victims can seek compensation for loss of companionship, emotional distress, pain and suffering, and other damages following a tragic and preventable accident.

“We understand that losing a loved one is not only a deeply emotional loss but also an economic one,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

“If you have lost someone due to another’s negligence, it is crucial to speak with a wrongful death attorney who can provide the support and legal guidance needed to obtain justice.”
