Tragic rollover accident happened at North Harbor View in Currituck County
CURRITUCK, NC, (August 19, 2025) - A Tuesday morning rollover crash on NC 12 at North Harbor View claimed the lives of two men, including 22-year-old Nicholas Danbrowney. Authorities said the driver, a 65-year-old man, was traveling north in a 2023 Ford Explorer at a high rate of speed when the SUV ran off the roadway, struck an embankment, and overturned multiple times.
Nicholas Danbrowney, 22, was tragically killed Tuesday when he was ejected from a Ford Explorer that crashed into an embankment and overturned on NC 12 in Currituck County.
Danbrowney was ejected and pronounced dead at the scene. The driver was transported to Outer Banks Hospital, where he later died. Another passenger was taken to Chesapeake Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Speed and lack of seatbelt use were factors in the accident, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, which is continuing its investigation.
