DUI ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION
Despite ongoing enforcement efforts across the country, impaired drivers continue to pose a serious danger to others on the road.
According to the National Safety Council, impaired driving—including alcohol, drugs, or medications—accounts for 10 percent of all fatal vehicle crashes nationwide, making it the second-leading cause of automobile deaths. In Texas alone, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) reported 1,869 fatalities related to alcohol-impaired driving in 2022, representing about 42% of all vehicle-related deaths in the state.
An independent investigation is often critical in such cases to determine all contributing factors, including the suspect’s blood-alcohol content and other evidence of impairment.
Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and a seasoned DUI accident attorney, emphasized the importance of legal action for victims and their families. “Separate from criminal charges, a victim may be entitled to compensation through a civil lawsuit against the responsible party,” Bond said. “In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview important witnesses, analyze any surveillance video from the scene of the crash, and obtain phone and texting records of the liable party. An attorney also helps ensure that impaired drivers are held accountable while guiding grieving families through this extremely difficult process and protecting their legal rights.”
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
Pending the investigation, the family of Maximo Ramirez may have grounds to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families of victims lost in tragic or catastrophic accidents can seek damages for loss of companionship, emotional distress, pain and suffering, and other related losses.
“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal.
“We understand just what families must go through, and having their rights protected is vital. A wrongful death lawyer will stay updated on the official investigation and help ensure that their legal rights and best interests are protected.”
