CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED
Driving while impaired by any substance —legal or illegal — puts you and others on the road at risk.
Impaired drivers can’t accurately assess their impairment, which is why no one should drive after using any impairing substances. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), about 1 million arrests are made in the United States each year for driving under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs.
Candice Bond, an experienced DUI accident attorney, was interviewed and shared her thoughts on incidents like this.
"Separate from criminal charges, a victim's family may be entitled to compensation through a civil lawsuit against the responsible party, said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal. "In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview important witnesses, analyze any surveillance video from the scene of the crash, and obtain phone and text records of the liable party. Serving as an advocate, an attorney can help compassionately guide a family during this difficult time, protecting their legal rights while ensuring that a drunk driver is held accountable for their reckless actions.”
WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM
The family members of Juana Jasmine Orozco Guerrero may be entitled to a wrongful death claim. Family members of wrongful death victims may seek damages for loss of companionship, pain, suffering, and emotional distress following a tragic or catastrophic accident.
“We understand the immense challenges families face during such difficult times, and protecting their legal rights is essential,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. “A wrongful death attorney will closely monitor the investigation and advocate to ensure the family’s best interests are prioritized. Relatives of wrongful death victims have the right to seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress caused by a tragic accident.”
Additionally, those injured in the accident may have the right to pursue a personal injury lawsuit. Bond emphasized that the stress and uncertainty following a serious injury can be overwhelming, impacting all areas of life including family, work, finances, and overall well-being.
