Detectives from the Third Squad are investigating the circumstances of the crash, including possible contributing factors.

Pending the results of the investigation, Martinez may have the right to pursue a personal injury claim.

PEDESTRIAN ACCIDENT INVESTIGATION

The crash that left Jose Martinez seriously injured highlights the everyday dangers pedestrians face on roadways across the country.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), more than 104,000 pedestrians were treated for crash-related injuries in emergency departments in 2020. These types of incidents are frequently caused by distracted or negligent driving, excessive speed, and infrastructure that prioritizes vehicles over pedestrian safety.

Candice Bond, a seasoned pedestrian accident attorney, emphasized the importance of an independent legal investigation in cases like this to protect the rights of the victim.

“Thorough investigations are critical to identifying the root causes of pedestrian accidents and proving negligence,” said Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal and a national analyst for Newsline. “Road design, visibility of signage, and lighting conditions must all be carefully reviewed. These steps help ensure victims receive fair compensation as they recover.”

Notably, the town of Islip has consistently ranked among the most dangerous areas for pedestrians on Long Island. A study by Smart Growth America revealed that Islip sees some of the highest numbers of pedestrian crashes in the region, driven by behaviors like speeding and impaired driving.

PERSONAL INJURY CLAIM

Pending the results of the investigation, Jose Martinez may be entitled to pursue a personal injury claim. Victims of serious accidents often face immense challenges—physically, emotionally, and financially.

“It’s critical for injured victims to have legal representation when pursuing a personal injury claim,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal. “The aftermath of an accident can be overwhelming, affecting every area of a person’s life, from work to family to overall well-being.”

“Insurance companies frequently push for quick settlements that fail to reflect the true value of a claim,” Bond added. “A dedicated attorney will fight to ensure the victim is treated fairly and receives full compensation for their injuries and suffering.”
