Police Lights car crashJorge Rocha, a 37-year-old man from Fontana, was tragically killed on July 9 in Colton following a collision between a motorcycle and another vehicle, according to authorities.

The San Bernardino County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Jorge Rocha.

Authorities reported that the crash occurred at the intersection of Mt. Vernon Avenue and C Street. Rocha was operating a motorcycle when he collided with another, as-yet-unidentified vehicle. He tragically died at the scene due to his injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Drivers of cars, trucks, and other large vehicles must exercise caution and share the road responsibly with motorcycle riders, who remain some of the most at-risk road users. In 2023, 6,335 motorcyclists were killed in crashes—a staggering 26% increase since 2019, according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

“Motorcycle riders are arguably the most vulnerable motorists on the roadways, given the fact that there are no airbags or sturdy windows to protect them from an impact,” said Candice Bond, Managing Partner of Bond Legal.

Bond emphasized the importance of an independent investigation in serious motorcycle crashes. “An accident reconstruction team is sometimes needed to help piece together what happened. All of these resources are necessary for helping clients receive monetary compensation for damages or a loss following a collision,” she said.

Bond added that legal action can play a key role in protecting the rights of victims’ families and ensuring accountability. “In cases such as this, it is imperative to have an independent investigation conducted by a seasoned lawyer.”

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Jorge Rocha may be entitled to pursue a wrongful death claim. Families of victims lost in catastrophic accidents can seek damages for loss of companionship, emotional distress, and pain and suffering.

“The stress and sorrow can be extremely overwhelming after losing a loved one in an accident,” said Candice Bond, Of Counsel with Bond Legal.

“A wrongful death lawyer will stay updated on the official investigation and help ensure that the victim's legal rights and best interests are protected,” Bond added.
