Interstate 5 crash kills 24-year-old North Hollywood man

BUTTONWILLOW, CA, (September 15, 2025) - Jorge Vidal Aguirre-Munguia, 24, of North Hollywood, was fatally injured in a two-vehicle crash on Interstate 5 near Buttonwillow on Sept. 15.

According to CHP, Aguirre-Munguia was driving a 2025 Ram 1500 northbound around 12:02 p.m. when a southbound 2010 Toyota Corolla, operated by a 45-year-old La Puente man, veered into the northbound lane and struck the pickup.

Aguirre-Munguia died at the scene, while the Toyota driver sustained moderate injuries and was taken to Kern Medical. Authorities continue to investigate the crash.

CRASH INVESTIGATION NEEDED

Several factors are to blame for the surge in traffic fatalities, but at the heart of it is driver behavior—including speeding, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, and distracted driving, especially due to cellphone use. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has reported that 8,055 lives were lost in motor vehicle collisions during the first quarter of 2025.

While the cause and liability of the crash are being investigated, Candice Bond, an experienced accident attorney and Managing Partner of Bond Legal, said that it is imperative to have an independent investigation conducted by a seasoned attorney.

“In addition to the diligent work of law enforcement, an attorney can re-interview important witnesses, analyze any surveillance video from the scene of the crash, and obtain phone and texting records of the liable party,” said Bond, a national analyst for The Legal Advocate.

Time is of the essence in cases such as this, and the family of a victim must be ensured that evidence is reviewed in an efficient manner.

WRONGFUL DEATH CLAIM

Pending the investigation, the family of Jorge Vidal Aguirre-Munguia may have the right to pursue a wrongful death claim. Such claims allow surviving relatives to seek compensation for loss of companionship, pain and suffering, and emotional distress following a catastrophic accident.

Candice Bond, Managing Partner at Bond Legal, said, “Losing a loved one is an incredibly emotional and often financial burden. Families deserve guidance and support to navigate the legal process after such a tragedy.”

“Consulting a wrongful death attorney can help ensure that families receive the justice and compensation they are entitled to when a loved one’s death results from another’s negligence,” Bond added.
